After one of the children went on a camping break away, Kiddi Caru in Bedford took inspiration from their weekend and transformed one of their areas into a mini campsite complete with tent, campfire, and picnic area.
The children enjoyed using binoculars to hunt for bugs and to bird watch, as well as making their own food around the campfire. This was a great opportunity to talk about fire safety and the children were lucky enough to have one of our fire wardens show them a fire extinguisher and smoke alarms.
The children then had a picnic with their afternoon snack before gathering around the campfire for singing time.
They also made a rock pool out of a water tray where the children used different materials to make their own fish to put in it and then discussed all the different textures of how shells, seaweed and fish felt.
