Apprenticeships

One of the fundamental principles behind the success of Grandir UK is that we grow our own talent. Through our expert training provider, Realise, our Level 2 and Level 3 Early Years and Education apprenticeships will help you kickstart a successful career in childcare.

We also offer Level 5 apprenticeships to new and existing employees who want to progress into a leadership role and influence change which benefits the care, learning and development of children.

FAQs about our apprenticeships

What training will I undertake?

Apprenticeships at Grandir UK consist of both practical and academic elements. You’ll gain first-hand experience of nursery life and work alongside our skilled practitioners who will support you in developing the skills and knowledge you need to play a key role in one of our nurseries.

Each week you’ll be allocated time off the job to complete studying and training for your apprenticeship. The topics you’ll cover both in and out of the nursery include child development, safeguarding and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Where will I do my training?

Apprenticeships take a practical approach to learning so the majority of your time will be spent in your chosen nursery. Each week you’ll also be required to complete 6 hours off-the-job training which you’ll work out with Realise and your nursery manager.

Will I have to do any work in my own time?

During these 6 hours every week you’ll undertake additional studying and training to contribute toward your apprenticeship and future nursery role. This will include remote one-to-one learning sessions and attending webinars led by industry experts.

How long will my apprenticeship last?

A Level 2 Early Years apprenticeship will last for 12 months with another 3 months required to complete your End Point Assessment (or EPA). This is the final stage of your apprenticeship and is designed to assess the skills and knowledge you’ve gained during your time with us.

A Level 3 Early Years apprenticeships will last for 14 months with another 3 months required to complete your EPA. A Level 5 Early Years apprenticeship will last for 18 months with another 5 months required to complete your EPA.

What qualifications do I need to start?

To begin a Level 2 Early Years apprenticeship, it’s ideal (but not necessary) for you to have both English and Mathematics GCSEs at Level 4 (equivalent to grade C) or above. If you missed out on getting these, don’t worry! You can undertake Functional Skills as part of your apprenticeship.

Depending on your qualifications, you can enter straight into a Level 3 apprenticeship. The experts at Realise will be able to advise you on this when you apply. To undertake a Level 5 Early Years apprenticeship, you’ll need to have successfully passed your Level 3.

What will I get paid?

An Early Years apprentice at Grandir UK can expect to earn £5.28 per hour as set by the government.

What support will I receive?

At Grandir UK, we tailor apprenticeships to the needs of the individual to ensure the best experience possible.

During your time with us, you’ll receive plenty of support and guidance from your appointed nursery mentor and fellow practitioners, many of whom will have also completed an apprenticeship.

Your appointed trainer from Realise will meet with you regularly to check in with you and see if your individual needs are being met. Additionally, specialist support is available for those undertaking Functional Skills as part of their apprenticeship.

Will I get a job at the end of my apprenticeship?

After you’ve successfully completed your apprenticeship, there will be plenty of support available to help you apply for a qualified role within your chosen nursery.
