Our Support Office in Basingstoke, part of Grandir UK, is currently looking for a Health and Safety Manager to join our team.

The role purpose is to be responsible for the review, development, implementation and monitoring of the Grandir UK Health and Safety management systems, to ensure the safety of staff, children, visitors and contractors, in line with all current Health and Safety legislation. The Health & Safety Manager also has the responsibility for auditing and overseeing site building compliance, working closely with the Facilities Management Team to ensure all premises are safe and compliant at all times.
Additionally, the role is pivotal in the successful implementation of our behavioural safety initiatives and roadmap. The Health & Safety Manager will be working with our external assessment/auditing consultant to ensure appropriate coaching and guidance is provided for all our Operational and support teams so that safety runs through the culture of the organisation and is seen as a proactive management tool.

What will you be doing:

  • Review and develop all aspects of the Grandir UK Health and Safety System and the behavioural safety roadmap ensuring that they are imbedded consistently across Grandir UK
  • Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming Health and Safety legislation and ensure that Grandir UK has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance.
  • Be an initiative-taking member of the H&S Management Board Meeting, highlighting areas requiring attention or continuous improvement possibilities. Lead the collation of safety related data and present your findings at each quarterly meeting consulting with all stakeholders for the most relevant and insightful information.
  • Work proactively with managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a continuous improvement culture throughout each setting by conducting regular assessments and coaching sessions.
  • Work with and coach the nursery teams to ensure we are identifying risks and hazards within each nursery, including food safety and have robust assessments, control measures and action plans to mitigate any risk.
  • Discuss areas for improvement with relevant staff and/or external bodies and agree appropriate corrective action
