Our Support Office in Basingstoke, part of Grandir UK, is currently looking for a Finance Ledger Assistant to join our team. The role purpose is to provide support to the Nurseries and existing Finance team by taking ownership of the Sales and Purchase ledger activities for one of our companies.  You will also provide cover to other team members for any absences and give support to the Finance Manager as and when required.  Systems currently used are Sage 200, Connect Childcare and Famly.

What will you be doing:

  • Supporting the Finance Manager to manage all accounting operations as required
  • Sales Ledger activities – allocating parent payments and chasing outstand parent fees
  • Purchase Ledger activities – processing invoices and supplier payments and reconciling supplier statements
  • Reconciling bank statements
  • Participating in month end and year end tasks as required and ensuring deadlines are met
  • General Journal processing
  • Reporting any issues to the Finance & Ledger Manager, liaising closely with the Nursery Managers, Regional Managers and the Financial Controller
  • Processing receipts and childcare vouchers onto the internal childcare system and resolving queries
  • Process card payments onto parent accounts
  • Credit card reconciliations
  • Complete full bank postings (direct debits) ensuring invoices are requested when needed
  • Complete bank reconciliations including timing differences
  • Petty Cash reconciliations & postings
  • Code and enter purchase ledger invoices to WAP/Sage 200
  • Maintain confidentiality in the workplace and set a good example in terms of dress and behaviour, maintaining the good reputation of the organisation at all times
  • Any other tasks that can be reasonably expected in relation to the role

 

Specification:

  • Previous Purchase ledger/Treasury accounting experience – essential
  • Experience of Sage 200 – desirable
  • Intermediate user of the Microsoft Office Suite, Excel in particular
  • Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Self-starter with the ability to add value
  • Confident in nature
  • Process driven with the ability to suggest improvements to make efficiencies
  • Ability to use initiative.
  • Can effectively prioritise workload
  • Extremely well organised and works well to tight deadlines
