Little Gardeners Scoop Burgess Hill In Bloom Award

17th August 2018 – Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool Burgess Hill
Allotment Week Burgess Hill

Green fingered children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s Burgess Hill day nursery have won the Best School category in Burgess Hill In Bloom’s Summer Garden competition for the sixth year running.

As well as planting beautiful flowers to brighten up the nursery’s garden the children have also been growing plants, herbs and vegetables as well as sunflowers. The herbs and vegetables have even been used by the children and the nursery’s chef to make some delicious fresh dishes.

In addition to growing, different recycled materials have been used to make the garden an even more exciting space – with tyres used to create mini messy play areas and sandpits and a car and house made from pallets. These help the children to develop their imagination and social skills through sharing and creating games and stories together.

Gemma Hicks, Nursery Manager, said: “We are lucky that we have a lovely garden area with lots of space for the children to explore. It is already treated as an extension to the classroom and we wanted to give the children even more opportunities to enjoy and benefit from it.

“They have had a fantastic time planting and nurturing the flowers, herbs and vegetables and are very excited to have won a Burgess Hill in Bloom award in recognition of their achievements.”
