Kiddi Caru Plympton Sparkles For Home-Start’s Snowflake Appeal
The children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s Plympton day nursery supported the Snowflake Appeal run by Home-Start UK – the charity dedicated to supporting families with young children – with a day of snowflake themed fundraising fun during the week of 30th November.
As part of the snowy celebrations the children dressed up in white, blue and silver and enjoyed ice cube and shaving foam play, making snowflake biscuits and snowflakes. To make sure the nursery was as snowy as possible everyone joined in to make a giant snowflake as well as making decorations for the Christmas Grotto.
Snowflake Appeal merchandising such as enamel pin badges, gift tags and Christmas cards were also available to purchase from the nursery to help raise funds.
The Snowflake Appeal, which runs from 1st November to 31st January, is fronted by TV’s Kirstie Allsopp and was launched by Home-Start in 2013. Funds raised by the Snowflake Appeal help to ensure that Home-Start’s volunteers based at 300 centres around the UK have the training and support they need to continue to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
Tracey Callan, Nursery Manager, said: “This year’s Snowflake Appeal was even better than last year and the children and staff all had a wonderful time. It is a great way to start the festive season while also raising funds for an extremely worthy cause. Our Winter Wonderland reception area is fantastic and we’ll be keeping this in place for a little while yet; we will all be sorry to take down the lovely sparkly lights and snowflakes!”
