Granddads Garden For Family Week At Kiddi Caru Whiteley
As part of Kiddi Caru Whiteley’s Family Week initiative in support of Home-Start - the charity dedicated to supporting families with young children – granddads spent an afternoon at the nursery this week to help the children get their garden ship shape for summer.
Nine granddads came along for the afternoon and other family members were invited to take their place if granddad could not make it on the day. They planted everything from sunflowers and cress to runner beans and marigolds with the children and, not content with that, they also tidied up some of the existing planters.
Home-Start is a national family support charity that helps parents to build better lives for their children. Volunteers provide support and friendship to more than 32,000 families every year. Since the launch of the partnership last year Kiddi Caru has already raised almost £2000 on behalf of the charity.
Lisa Roper, Business Manager, said: “We are very grateful to our granddads for coming along to spend time at the nursery. It was wonderful to see them enjoying the great outdoors with the children and the garden looks lovely. Family Week was all about helping our families spend more quality time together and the Gardening with Granddad afternoon certainly achieved that.”
