Diwali Celebrations At Kiddi Caru Plympton
The children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s Plympton day nursery have been celebrating Diwali.
Diwali, the festival of lights, takes place each year in the autumn. One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, it celebrates the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
The children made tea light holders and lanterns to decorate the nursery with. They also did torch play in the dark - making patterns with the beams of light - and used paper plates to draw, colour and decorate lanterns. There was also lots of singing and dancing and dying spaghetti with bright colours.
Tracey Callan, Nursery Manager, said: “The children loved hearing all about Diwali and why it is such an important time of year. They very much enjoy getting involved in different calendar events, and we regularly organise activities to help them to learn more about their own and other cultures.”
