Children At Kiddi Caru Whiteley Welcome Some Furry Friends
21st February 2014
– Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool Whiteley, Fareham
Rabbits Ruby and Harry and Olly the cat are just a few of the furry friends that have been visiting the children at Kiddi Caru’s Whiteley Day nursery recently.
Noticing that the children had become very interested in animals and pets, the staff decided to bring in some of their own pets so that they could find out more about them. Joining Ruby, Harry and Olly were hamsters Tommy and Timmy and Purdy the dog. The children have also been reading all about animals and have created a display board about their own pets.
Some of the children have also made their own fish tank, using a cardboard box that they decorated themselves. They even made clay fish and turtles to go in it.
Lisa MacLennan, Nursery Manager, said: “We always like to respond to topics that the children are interested in finding out more about, it’s important to work with their natural curiosity to make sure they are always interested and engaged. Bringing pets into the nursery also gave us an opportunity to talk about how to care for animals, which is an important part of a child’s learning and development.”
