Children At Kiddi Caru Caldecotte Take A Pew
The children at Kiddi Caru’s Caldecotte day nursery are enjoying their new outdoor Playdough play station, made for them by the nursery’s staff from a recycled church pew.
The nursery was given an old church pew during the winter and after letting it dry out for a while the staff sanded it down and painted it. They created several areas along the pew for the children to use as play stations and it is the perfect height for them to stand at and get creative with Playdough.
Lucy Clarke, Nursery Manager, said: “The children were fascinated with the idea of taking an old piece of furniture and turning it into something new and useful. We do a lot of recycling here so this took the idea a step further. It’s good for little ones to learn that rather than throwing things away just because they’re old, it’s worth thinking about how they can be revamped and reused.”
