A Week Of Gruffalo Fun At Kiddi Caru Burgess Hill
The children and staff at Burgess Hill’s Kiddi Caru day nursery ventured into the deep dark wood to celebrate one of their favourite books – The Gruffalo – for the company’s 2018 book week initiative.
Written by Julia Donaldson and first published in 1999, The Gruffalo tells the tale of a mouse taking a walk through a forest where he meets a fox, an owl, a snake and finally the Gruffalo. During the week long celebrations the children baked Gruffalo biscuits and made Gruffalo masks. They also transformed different areas of the nursery’s garden into scenes from the story. Throughout the week everyone learned the Gruffalo song too.
Gemma Hicks, Nursery Manager, said: “The Gruffalo is one of the children’s favourite books. As well as the Gruffalo himself they love the mouse character, who manages to make it out of the forest despite meeting a few scary animals along the way thanks to his quick thinking. The story really captures the children’s imaginations and it was lovely to have a whole week dedicated to bringing it to life for them.”
