Little Bookworms: June Book Recommendations

Welcome to ‘Little Bookworms’ our online children’s book club! Join us each month to explore a variety of exciting and educational book themes, fun activities, and interesting facts.

‘Tis the season to be gardening and what better way to prepare, involve and educate your little ones than with a good book?! We’ve teamed up with Books & Pieces to select this month’s recommendations suitible for children at nursery age.

From non-fiction to storybooks, there’s an ever-increasing number of titles to choose from. Here are three for you to dig into!

Babies: Botany for Babies, by J. Litton

We love the Baby 101 series for its no-nonsense approach to educating the youngest of readers. Featuring simple words and bright, engaging illustrations, content is specifically tailored for babies.

In Botany for Babies, they’ll learn all about plants and trees and what makes them grow. This engaging, tongue-in-cheek board book also features a surprise lift-the-flap ending!

Toddlers: Jasper’s Beanstalk, By Nick Butterworth and Mick Inkpen

This Mick Inkpen classic is a favourite throughout the early years. Follow Jasper as he plants a bean and waits for it to grow into a beanstalk. How long will he have to wait before he can start looking for giants?! This simple story introduces little ones to the joy planting seeds and helps them learn how things grow.

Preschool: How do Flower’s Grow? By Katie Daynes and Christine Pym

The Usborne Questions and Answers series is fabulous for feeding your little ones’ inquisitive minds. How Do Flowers Grow introduces some of the fundamental themes of science and nature through its simple text, vibrant illustrations and over 40 flaps to lift.
