Welcome to ‘Little Bookworms’ our online children’s book club! Join us each month to explore a variety of exciting and educational book themes appropriate for all nursery ages.
The first day at nursery or preschool can be a daunting experience for both you and you little one. One of our top tips on how to prepare your child for nursery is to read them a storybook about starting nursery for the first time. Stories are a great way to familiarise your little one with a nursery environment and can help with the transition from home to nursery. If you can, we recommend you aim to get a book a few of weeks before your child starts and make it part of their bedtime routine.
We offer our very own illustrated storybook called ‘My First Day at Nursery’ By Caroline Meek, where you and your little one can join Ben on his first day, as he tries new activities and makes new friends. If you would like to find out more, email us at [email protected]. This book is limited edition, so get one while you can!
Otherwise, you can check out our recommendations for other books about starting nursery below:
Join Spot in a brand new story all about his first day at nursery school. There are lots of friends to meet and fun things to do before Mum comes to pick Spot up at the end of the day. Maisy has lots of fun at nursery in this delightful pre-school story by the multi-award-winning Lucy Cousins. She and her friends sing at Music Time, nap at Quiet Time, listen at Book Time and then go into the garden for Play Time. What a day!
Watch Ben and his friends play with trucks, paint pictures, dress up and listen to a story in this fun-filled novelty book with flaps and mechanisms. Each page has really helpful tips for parents and carers that are endorsed by The Good Play Guide and leading Early Years Consultant, Dr Amanda Gummer.
We hope our book recommendations will help to build excitement and prepare your little one for their first day.
