Christmas Book Recommendations for Children

There are so many brilliant children’s Christmas books to choose from, from classic tales reimagined to silly stories to make them laugh.

In our latest book review, Amanda from children’s bookstore Books and Pieces shares three books that will help prepare your little ones for a visit from Santa!

For Babies: Touch and Find Christmas by Campbell Books & Mr Iwi

There’s so much for babies to get stuck into in this seasonal edition from Campbell’s popular Touch and Find series. Lift giant flaps to reveal sensory illustrations like a reindeer’s fluffy coat, a crunchy snowman and Santa’s bushy beard! And with bright and bold illustrations and something to spot or count on every page, it’s a book that will last into toddlerhood too!  Find the book here.

For Toddlers: I Love You Father Christmas by Giles Andreae & Emma Dodd

This cute picture book celebrates why Father Christmas is so magical, from his stand-out costume and amazing beard to his pretty reindeer. The short, rhyming story follows a little boy as he gets ready for Santa’s visit, reflecting on the nice things he’s done at home and for friends, and preparing carrots and mince pies to put out for Father Christmas and his reindeers. It’s the perfect choice to prepare young children for the big day! Find the book here.

For Preschoolers: The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore and Stacey Thomas

Nothing says Christmas quite like this classic Clement C Moore poem. And in this latest edition – released this Christmas – illustrations from Stacey Thomas give a modern twist to the much-loved festive poem. It’s a must-have story for your festive bookshelf and will add some extra magic and wonder to their Christmas Eve. Grab a copy for your Christmas Eve box! Find out more.
