At Kiddi Caru, we are proud to support new staff on their journey into a career in childcare.
Kiddi Caru Day Nurseries provide premium quality childcare for children aged between 0 – 5 years. Each of our state-of-the-art nurseries are carefully designed to maximise the care, play and learning environment for each child in our care. One of the fundamental principles behind the success of Kiddi Caru is that we grow our own talent. Through the Kiddi Caru Apprenticeship scheme we recruit and develop people who are passionate about giving a child a really positive head start in life, who will then ultimately become full time members of the Kiddi Caru team.
Whilst gaining hands on experience at a high quality childcare setting you will be working towards recognised childcare qualifications.
What training will I undertake?
Our apprentices follow a Level 2 and then a Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Education. Both have academic and practical elements. You will be required to produce a portfolio of work as well as having regular assessments by your tutor, peers and manager.
Where will I do my training?
We tailor our apprenticeships to the needs of the nursery and the individual. Some of our nurseries use the local colleges as their pathway; depending on the college, some offer courses that start at the beginning of the academic year (September), some colleges run a ‘rolling course’ which allows you to join at any point of the year; by following this pathway one day per week will be spent in a college classroom setting and the rest of the week in nursery learning the role ‘on the job’. Other nurseries use approved Training Providers who send experienced Tutors into the nursery where they carry out training sessions in the rooms that you are working in. This means you will work a full week in the nursery.
Will I have to do any work in my own time?
As with all qualifications there will be an element of studying that you will be required to do in your own time. Speaking to our past and current apprentices, this is not too onerous and is very achievable.
How long does the apprenticeship last?
All contracts are for two years, during which time we will support you achieving your Level 2 and Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Early Years. We would expect you to have more than enough time during this period to complete your full qualification.
What qualifications do I need to start?
Our aim is for you to achieve your Level 3 qualification; entry requirements for this are a GCSE Grade 4 or above in both Maths and English. Don’t worry if you missed out getting your required grades this time around, your local school/college will be able to sign you up for retakes. Once qualified, we’d love to hear from you!
What will I get paid?
Pay is in line with the National Minimum Wage rates for apprentices and are reviewed annually on the 1st October by the government.
What support will I get?
During your time with us you will get support from both your tutors and the staff within the nursery, many of which will have followed the apprenticeship route themselves. Once in the nursery, you will be allocated a team and a Team Leader, who will help you learn your ‘trade’ as well as supporting you with the practical elements of your coursework.
