Children At Kiddi Caru Whiteley Practice Their Digital Dexterity
The staff at Kiddi Caru’s Whiteley day nursery have created a finger gym for the children to help them develop their fine motor and language skills, both essential for handwriting.
Exercises the children can do in the gym include threading pasta and leaves onto string and making shapes out of playdough they made themselves. All the activities help to develop strong, flexible fingers, hands and arms.
Bee Bevis, Nursery Manager, said: “The finger gym will really help the children to develop the skills they need for handwriting as well as promoting better hand-eye coordination, differentiated movement and manual dexterity. The children are very happy with their new gym too, as they get to do lots of activities they enjoy.”
